Please Do Help
Our land is in trouble it needs your help,
So are the oceans, the coral, the kelp.
There must be a way for all to unite,
To stop the earth from a disastrous fright.
We can't leave this world a barren waste land,
But luscious and fertile, as many creatures as there are sand.
We're destroying our jungles, our forests our beaches,
Taking away what is the earth's like billions of leaches.
Few Natural Habitats are left on the globe,
All are scattered like the beats of a strobe.
We welcome you to an endangered land,
To show you how animals dwindle like an hour glass's sand.
Only you can help to save our earth,
And hopefully, with care give it a rebirth.

Our Earth is in trouble, and it needs your help! Our air is being poisoned everyday by car fumes, our oceans polluted with toxic wastes, and our beautiful rainforests are being destroyed. That's why the Earth needs all the friends it can get. Please visit the other areas of our project to learn more about our environment, and ways that you can help make the Earth a better place to live for our children.
How to Help Save Planet Earth
- Use rechargable batteries instead of single-use batteries. It will help you save money on trying to recycle spent alkalines.
- Get an efficient space heater to cut down on the cubic area you need to heat, reducing energy consumption and energy bills.
- Use recycled paper. There's no need to use virgin paper for things like computer printing, envelopes, paper towels, toilet paper or tissues; the best part is that it's all easy to find at office supply stores and grocery stores
- Instead of buying bottled water, use a water filter instead. There are some pretty strange options for filtration out there, but they can be very simple and easy to use, so get one, use it to replenish your precious bodily fluids, and you'll never buy bottled water again.
- Buy clothes and other linens made from organic cotton. Conventional cotton farming uses only about 3% of the farmland but consumes approximately 25% of the chemical pesticides and fertilizers, and if you want it, you can get it organic
- Ride a bicycle. This will cut down on carbon emissions and money you spend on a car.
- Finally, a programmable thermostat will help efficiently regulate your indoor climate; it's like TiVo for your house. Warm it up and cool it down only when you want to, live more comfortably and cheaply. Isn't that what we all want?

How to Recycle Paper
- Check with your county department of public works to find out about local curbside recycling programs and community drop-off centers, or look under "Recycling" in the yellow pages. Also call 1 (800) CLEANUP for state recycling information.
- Separate paper into three groups: white office paper, newspaper, and mixed-color paper. Most curbside programs will collect it this way.
- Recycle all white office paper (usuall from laser printers or copiers) together. Be sure to remove the wrappers they come in. These are a lower grade of paper and cannot be recycled with the white office paper and should be recycled with mixed-color paper.
- Take newspapers, and place them in brown bags, which can be recycled with newspapers, or tie them in bundles with twine (a natural fiber). Colored advertising inserts can also be recycled with newspapers. Be sure to remove rubber bands, plastic and anything that is not paper.
- Place all mixed-color paper together. This includes anything from magazines to junk mail. Staples do not need to be removed. Remove all plastic stickers, membership cards and anything that is not paper.
How to go green at home
Instructions
- Replace your light bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs. Each bulb you change can save you up to $25 a year.
- Buy thermal drapes. Thermal drapes will help keep your house cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Also try turning off your AC when you can and opening your windows.
- Reuse old water bottles and soda bottles. Just finished that refreshing coke in a bottle? Rinse it out and fill it with water and take it to the gym the next time you head out. If a bottle is past its time then recycle it. Recycling is a great way to go green and help the environment.
- Join your local Free Cycle group. Free Cycle are online communities where you can post items that you want to get rid of. If you see something someone else is getting rid of that you want you can fire them an email and snatch it up. Instead of filling up the landfills you can take advantage of the old saying "one man's trash is another man's treasure".
- Carpool! Gas prices are through the roof right now and going green can save you loads of money. If you can find a coworker that lives near you or if a family member works near you and you can coordinate schedules then take advantage of riding together. You will be cutting down on pollution and also saving some gas money
